Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the point?

QVC strives to provide an environment and opportunity for individuals who are working on achieving a voice more congruent with their identity to practice their voice in community with other trans and gender-diverse folks “who get it”. Learning from one another is one of the best ways to grow!

How much does it cost?

There is a recommended $20 donation per participant per session to help cover the cost of the facilitator’s time and energy.

Is this voice therapy?

QVC is not voice therapy or vocal coaching - it is a practice environment for folks who are looking to gain insight from others who are also practicing a new voice. While vocal techniques and strategies will be discussed throughout sessions, this is not the ideal environment for most people to begin their voice training journey.

Do I need to have worked with a voice coach previously to join this group?

While working with a voice therapist/coach previously is recommended, it isn’t a requirement! A foundational understanding of voice and voice modification is recommended as basic concepts will likely not be covered in these sessions. QVC is focused more on practice and fine-tuning voice rather than teaching the basics.

What happens during a voice group?

The group starts with introductions and sharing as much (or as little) about your voice goals as you’d like and a group vocal warm-up. Different topics will be discussed each month with the whole group, followed by small breakout groups specific to your voice goals. There will be ample opportunities to share what has been working for you and seek guidance from others who are going through the same experience.

Do I need to come to every meeting?

Nope! Show up to the ones that work with your schedule and skip the ones that don’t. Come every month or once a year - whatever works best for you!

When do meetings happen?

Meetings happen on the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm PST.

Who hosts/facilitates this group?

Cade Dibble (they/he) and Becks von Duering (they/them) are two trans speech-language pathologists dedicated to serving the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through intentional, identify-affirming, and person-centered voice therapy.
